Privacy Policy
Last updated July 7, 2026
Your financial data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have — including the fact that our access to your accounts is always read-only.
01Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Accrua (“Accrua,” “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our bookkeeping and controller review service. It works alongside our Terms of Service.
02Information we collect
- Information you provide. Details from the intake and onboarding, such as your name, business name, email, industry, and the documents you upload.
- Financial data. Transaction and account data we access on a read-only basis through connections you authorize with your banks, card processors, and accounting platforms.
- Usage data. Basic technical information such as device, browser, and interactions with the portal, used to operate and secure the service.
03How we use information
- To keep your books continuously reconciled and deliver your monthly close.
- To have a controller review your financials and flag items that need attention.
- To communicate with you about your account, documents, and statements.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the service.
- To comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
04Read-only financial access
Accrua accesses your financial data on a read-onlybasis. We read transactions to keep your books current — we can never move, withdraw, or transfer money, and we cannot initiate payments on your behalf. You can revoke the connections you have granted at any time through the relevant provider.
05How we share information
We do not sell your personal or financial information. We share it only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers and subprocessors who help us operate the service (for example, hosting, data connections, and payment processing), under confidentiality obligations.
- When you direct us to, such as sharing statements with a person you designate.
- To comply with the law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and security.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this Policy.
06Data security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted, role-based access. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit access to those who need it to deliver the service.
07Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, and afterward as required to meet legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
08Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete certain personal information, or to object to or restrict some processing. To make a request, email hello@accrua.co and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
You can also revoke the read-only connections you have authorized at any time, though doing so may prevent us from keeping your books current.
09Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function properly without them.
10Children
Accrua is a service for businesses and is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
